GATHERED WORSHIP
AT CEDAR GROVE
Our worship services are centered on and shaped by the gospel. The good
news of Jesus Christ is the foundational message of hope that lies at the heart of our faith (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Click here to learn more about the gospel.
Congregational Singing
As God’s Word informs Christian worship, we worship God through gratefully singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs (Colossians 3:16, Ephesians 5:19). Though our instrumentation is acoustic and folk-like, we believe the voice of the congregation is the most important instrument.
Scripture Reading

During our Sunday gatherings, one of our members reads a passage from God’s Word that is in conjunction with the sermon text for that Sunday. All of our worship service elements support the Scriptures read that Sunday.
Prayer

We believe prayer is a major part of God’s plan of redemption, as seen in the Lord’s Prayer (Matt. 6:5-15). We pray knowing that God hears our prayers (1 John 5:14-15) because we humbly submit ourselves to God’s sovereignty over all things, and His word abides in us (John 15:7-8).
Sermon

We primarily preach expositionally, meaning that we go through entire books of the Bible verse-by-verse to understand all that the Bible teaches. We believe the preaching and hearing of God’s Word is central to the corporate worship of God’s people (Acts 2:42, 2 Timothy 4:2).
Response

Following the sermon, we have a time of response to God’s Word in which we sing, pray, and reflect on God’s Word preached.
The Lord's Supper

We believe the Lord's Supper is a joyful celebration for Christians as we remember what Jesus has done for us in the gospel and proclaiming His death and resurrection until he comes again.
The Lord’s Supper is for those who have given their lives to God in faith and repentance of sins, have been baptized, and are in good standing with their local church.
At Cedar Grove, we worship God through partaking of the Lord’s Supper once a month.
Giving

We worship God through the weekly giving of our tithes and offerings as we reflect on God’s Word and how we should give our lives in obedience to Jesus in the upcoming week.
We give according to our means and beyond our means as one of the ways we demonstrate our love for God, our church, our community, and our missionaries (2 Cor. 8:8).
Fellowship

Christians are characterized by their unity and love for one another. Our Cedar Grove family spends time together before and after our Sunday and Wednesday gatherings, as well as informally throughout the week.
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."
John 13:34-35
Attire

Come as you are. You'll find a wide range of dress, from shorts to dresses to sport coats.
Children
Children classes are currently provided during the Sunday morning worship service for infants through 4 years old, where they will learn how all the Bible points to Jesus through singing, teaching, and hands-on crafts to help them remember what they've learned.
Your children are also welcome to join you in the worship service. Jesus calls little ones to himself, and we want to point them to the Savior however possible.
