We believe Cedar Grove Baptist Church has the same mission as every other true church in the world: to be an intentional community who want to connect others to Jesus Christ in a true and transformative way. We believe that “connecting people to Christ” is the mission of Jesus’ church and therefore our mission as well. We seek to do so by telling others the good news about Jesus, leading them through the decision to follow Jesus, baptizing them into Christ, participating in Christ through the sacraments, and learning to obey all that Jesus commanded us (Matt 28:18-20). In this task, we are not trying to be fancy but faithful, leaning into the ordinary means of grace God uses to feed and lead his people.

 

As we seek to grow in Christ together, we expect the Lord to accomplish his will in us. The Bible says that his will for us is our sanctification, our becoming more like Jesus (1 Thess 4:3). We want to grow in maturity, honing our ability to discern what is true and good and beautiful (Heb 5:14). The Apostle Paul expressed vision for his own ministry when he wrote, “Him (Christ) we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me” (Col 1:28-29). At Cedar Grove, we want to toil with all the energy God gives us at “Presenting Everyone Mature in Christ.” Ultimately, we want to see God’s kingdom come and his will be done here on Nails Creek as it is in heaven.
